Sambo Topie

In memory of Sambo Topie (“Sammy”, “Samboni”), loving best friend and family member. Survived by his best friend and sister, Savannah; Mom and Dad, Beth & David; and sister Audrey who don’t know what they will do without him. Sambo woke up in the morning and would bite Savannah’s eyelids or pull the covers off her head with his mouth until she woke up to feed him. He then would join his Mom at her desk to keep her company while she worked, occasionally taking breaks to nap in the sun. At the end of the day, he would wait at the end of Savannah’s bed until she returned home from school and they could begin their adventures. Sambo took his role as a family member very seriously. Since Savannah was five years old, Sambo was her best friend. He would sit in her Barbie DreamHouse as she played Barbies. He would lick away her tears when she cried over silly boys. He would eagerly share her fried chicken legs from Gray’s and watch her laptop as she did homework. He took care of his family through many illnesses and kidney stones, and recovering from car accidents, surgeries, and wisdom teeth surgery. Lucky for Sambo, he wasn’t required to earn his keep, catching only one mouse (at the ripe old age of 22) in his entire 23 years of life. Sambo enjoyed McDonald’s cheeseburgers, sour cream, nacho cheese dip, and Nacho Cheese Doritos or Chili Cheese Fritos. He enjoyed chin scratches, laying on his heated blanket, and being held like a baby. Sambo, you are an irreplaceable part of our family and we will miss you so much. Thank you for all that you have brought to our lives and family.  Here’s to you, buddy.
