Peyton Hernandez

He was such a good boy!

Peyton loved to be vacuumed! He loved digging holes. Loved chasing geese! He loved playing with lights (or chasing lights!)

The only dogs I knew him to actually play with were Disney (my sister Angela F. Byers Guth doggo), Luna (our good girl we lost 2 years ago), my bonus doggo Dana, and my neighbor’s little Terrier Jack. He tolerated the little man Draven, but since he was already elderly, he only tolerated.

Peyton was 100% Craig Derby’s doggo. When Craig would visit and then leave to go back to active duty, I would irritate him “WHERE’S CRAIG? WHERE’S YOUR BOY?” Peyton would whine and sniff and run in circles looking for Craig. Peyton knew his voice on the phone. I would have to talk to Craig in the bedroom so Peyton wouldn’t get anxious looking for him.

It’s quieter now, and I’m terribly sad. I’ve been sitting in Peyton’s seat since Friday. He is being cremated and will be home for good in a couple of weeks. So … that’s it.
