NellA Swinford
NellA Swinford
Our beloved family fur-member NellA Swinford was born on 11/12/13.
She was rescued from Indiana Bulldog Rescue and we welcomed NellA into our home on 12/11/2016.
She allowed many other fosters and visitors in and out of her home throughout her years. She became close to her adopted siblings, Louis and Snowball. NellA was full of life and loved them both.
She shared a special bond with Snowball as that was her buddy. If a storm would come kitty would go get NellA out of her “Condo” and they would both retreat to the laundry room to ride out the storm. I don’t really think NellA was scared of storms, I think she was there just to comfort Snowball who is definitely scared of storms. I’ve never seen a dog let a cat rub up against them as much as NellA did. NellA would let that cat do anything to her and she never batted an eye at her. Snowball is going to miss her buddy.
NellA also enjoyed going to the Lake and enjoyed the rides in the truck. She handed out many smiles to many passing motorists along her travels. The 1st thing she would do when she walked into the lake house was jump on HER couch. That’s where you would find NellA the rest of the weekend was on HER couch. Unless her buddy Jimmy or Brandee came by, then it was belly rubs all night; or chew on Dan’s hat.
She also loved patio chair cushions…..not to lay on them but to chew them and destroy them. She loved the outdoors, except camp fires….she would spend hours laying on HER deck and lounging in the pool. She didn’t like change and anytime her mom would place a new plant on the deck, NellA would bark and bark and sometimes chew the planter until mom or dad would remove or put the planter up high off NellA’s deck.
Her favorite toy was a plastic dinosaur and her large rubber ball. She hated anything that rolled that includes lawn carts, lawn mowers, golf carts; if it had wheels she wanted to chew them. Besides Kitty her other best friend was BDB Melissa and would wag her little nub violently until Melissa would pet her and give her attention.
She had an incident with a squeaky toy about a year ago and cost her parents to sell their golf cart and trailer to pay for her medical bills. Her parents later removed all squeaky toys from her toy chest and became advocates to not buy dogs squeaky toys.
NellA passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep in her “Condo” on fresh sheets mom had just washed for her. She is proceeded in death by her brother Louis and survived by her mom, dad, her buddy Snowball and many close friends.
NellA thank you for coming into our house and hearts. I don’t know how I’m going to move forward without you. Thank you for the many memories and scars, you are my special girl. Nobody understood you like Dad did, except Melissa, Jimmy and Brandee. We will furever love you and until we meet again, BEHAVE!
Love, Mom and Dad
