Napoleon Butterscotch (“Butters”) Hulet

May 10, 2004 – August 12, 2016

Napoleon Butterscotch (“Butters”) Hulet, 12 years old, of Russiaville, Indiana, passed away on August 12, 2016, at his home in Cumberland. He was born on May 10, 2004 in Anderson, Montana to Peter Gun and Stephanie of the Valley. He later met and was adopted in early July 2004, by the Hulets, who cherished many happy years together prior to his passing. From the moment Butters came into their lives, he was a source of support, humor, and unconditional love to everyone he knew. His smile warmed everyone’s heart.  Although he was bashful around cameras, he was quite photogenic. Butters was not like other shelties. He had a partially blue eye, peaceful demeanor, and hopeful outlook on life that was an inspiration to the many lives he touched. His unique looks and personality were only a couple of the characteristics that made him naturally beautiful. Butters was a dog who loved life, and never had a bad day. He enjoyed riding on his creeper, sunbathing, talking with his mamaw, playing with his Lamb Chop toy, sleeping on vents, warm showers, snuggling on his orange blanket, visiting his aunts, playing with his adopted brothers, and eating all of his favorite foods (including toasted cheese sandwiches, scrambled eggs, whipped cream, sausage, candy cane rawhides, and fried chicken). Butters lost his ability to walk several years ago.  That disability never stopped him from his ability to charm others into chauffeuring him around the house or getting where he needed to go. His compassion made him a welcome visitor at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo when his mamaw, his great-aunt Ruby, and his great-aunt Dorothy were in their care. He was devoted to the people he loved, and gave his family a lifetime of wonderful memories. Butters is survived by his family, Sarah Hulet, Eddie Hulet, Janice Hulet, Susie Chandler, Johnny Valverde, his adopted brothers, Gizmo and Stewie Hulet; as well as many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his papaw and mamaw, Billy and Lillian Chandler; great-aunt, Ruby Thomas; and great-aunt, Dorothy Uitts.

Butters’ life will be celebrated in the fond memories and gestures of kindness he gave to others. He was truly special.  Butters will always be loved by his family and memories of his beautiful smile will warm their hearts forever.
