I met Dee in 1990 when she was a dude horse at Eagle Creek Stables in Shakopee, MN and I was 10 years old. I immediately fell in love and all I wanted in the world was to be the one to take care of her. After asking for Dee everyday for over a year (driving my Dad crazy!) he surprised me with her the day before Christmas Eve Day 1993. The best gift I have ever been given. She taught me about responsibility, dedication, unconditional love, patience, respect and so much more. We traveled to and from Colorado together, to Washington State, Oregon and finally to Indiana. She was determined, stubborn, a fighter, spoiled and overall pretty amazing. She loved being outside, hated being inside and could never get enough apples. She was there through it all. She was my rock. My best friend. A part of me is forever lost without her, but the memories of the last 27 years continue to flood in and I welcome them and hold them dear. Go run in the greenest pasture and eat grass and apples to your hearts content my “pretty girl” and “I will see you tomorrow.” She was 32 years old.
