Our Coda Bear laid down for the last time on July 6th 2018 on a cool night with a clear sky and stars everywhere. Outside was his place and It’s the way he would have wanted it. Coda came from a litter of all white Husky pups in the summer of 2006 and was our family’s first dog. He would have made the perfect first dog for any family because he was a gentle, smart, fluffball with beautiful blue eyes. He was the perfect first dog for our family for so many more reasons: He hated having his picture taken. He was a stickler for the rules. He spoke his mind (and stomped his paws) when something wasn’t how he wanted it. And, most of all, he was very particular; he had certain nap spots, he would only eat his food a certain way, and even though he could never quite decide if he wanted in or out, going out required circling the table the same way every time before he would go out. He was sweet, smart, strong, noble, and beautiful to the very end and even a little neurotic but that fit right in with the rest of the family.Coda will be missed by Connor who picked him from the litter 12 years ago. By Cahri who doesn’t remember a day in her life when he wasn’t there and even kept him company in his cage sometimes when she thought he felt lonely. By Courtney who needed his time as much as he needed hers both for company when she was reading and a walk to help clear her head. By his Momma who he would call by name when he really wanted something badly enough and who loved him too much to keep anything from him. And by his Dad who will always look for him when he wakes up in the morning and glance at the door to see if he’s out when he goes to bed. He will always be his daddy’s boy and our Coda Bear and we will always love him.

I remember the day we brought him home. I’m not sure why Connor picked him. Out of a whole litter of little blue eyes white fluff balls, he picked Coda.
He was the greatest dog I’ve ever known. He was strong, smart, independent, alpha. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He didn’t bark at other dogs. He wasn’t interested. If he wanted you to let him, he let you know. He’d grab your arm with that great big paw and make you do it. There was no getting around it. He was OCD to the core. Only one way to do things and it was a struggle if it wasn’t right. He loved the outside and the colder, the better. Watching him in the snow was like watching a fish in water. It was his place. He loved to walk and he always led the way. He knew were we were going and I was just along for the ride. He was there waiting for me in the morning and the last duty of my day was to bring him in. When I called him that night and didn’t hear his collar, I knew something was wrong. I found him sleepy my in one of his favorite spots. It’s where he would have wanted to be when he went to sleep that last time. We sat with him for a while and cried together and then brought him in and slept with him one last time in his favorite spot. He will always be my boy and we will always love him. God speed Coda. I miss my friend.

Coda was a great neighbor and we will miss seeing him. I don\'t really remember a time when he wasn\'t here either.
